How to Run a Profitable Broiler Farm Business

Like I said in the article I wrote about top 4 all time lucrative agricultural business where I talked about poultry business as one of the all time lucrative business, and now, I will be talking extensively on how to run a profitable broiler business.

Going into poultry farming is a very good step but not just enough as you need to know which poultry business you should do and how to go about it.

To start with, you need a land to build a pen house. One thing you need to know is that broilers eat a lot. I'm not trying to scare you if you're the type who is not aware of that. So, it is imperative to know the seasons in the year that is good for you to rear and sell them. Majorly, poultry farmers rear broilers for 12 weeks before they sell them because of the rate at which they eat. Some people rear for 4weeks and sell them.

In a year, the following are the following months you should rear broilers and sell

January/February:

This is a good time you should consider to buy broilers and if you want to purchase in January, it should be towards the middle of January or towards the end of January. And if you considering buying them in February, it should be 1st week in February. The reason for this calculation is because Easter festival normally falls in April and by my own calculation, January is the best period you should buy day old chicks. If you can even buy it in 1st week in January won't be a bad idea. The reason is because you will buy them at cheap price. By the time we enter the second week, the price will be going up which is why you might need to buy it earlier. You can read about how to nurse day old chicks (broilers) till 12th weeks before selling, vaccines and feeds you need to give them.

One thing you need to know is that when you go to a poultry farm to buy day old chicks, you must know that you will have mortality i.e some of them will die. But if you collect them in a reputable farm, you can only have one to three mortality. Don't let that scares you because if you ask people who are already into poultry farm business, they will tell you it's normal.

Now the real business start on how to run a profitable broiler farm business by the time your broilers are approaching the 4th week. There are some farmers who doesn't like to go through the stress of nursing broilers from a day old, so they rather look for those who are good at nursing and are willing to sell 4 weeks broilers to them.

If you can nurse from day old chicks, it means you can start smiling to your bank starting from 3rd to 4th week. By the second week, you need to reach out to people down to your friends and family via social media to let them know you have 4weeks broilers available for sale so they can book ahead. There are some people who also buy 3 to 4 weeks broilers and they resell. There are some people who will buy so they can rear and kill them during Easter. So, you can sell some and sell the remaining ones at 12th week.

August/September:

August and September are months you can buy day old chicks (broilers). If you want to buy in August, you should target towards the end of the month. For September, you can buy it between the 1st and 3rd weeks. By the 4th week of September, the price for a day old would have high and will go higher in the 1st and 2nd week of October due to Christmas and new year festivals. So, if you can also reach out to more people that you have 4 weeks broilers for sale, you will make good profits. You can now reserve the ones you plan to sell for Christmas and new year.

Easter and Christmas seasons are those periods you can target if you are considering going into broiler's business. Are you a poultry farmer reading this article? Please kind drop your contributions in the comment section below for us to learn more.
